Home Salon Inspo - Beautiful and simple ideas to set up your home beauty business

Starting your own beauty business is a super exciting time.  Even if you are just looking to run a part-time side-hustle as a way to make some extra pocket money, making sure you have a beautiful and functional space to work in will add to your success.

Here are 4 home salon ideas to totally inspire your inner boss babe:

Thinking of starting your own lash business?  When it comes to your treatment room, make sure it’s relaxing and inviting for your clients but go ahead and let your personality shine through!  Choose a room or area with lots of natural light and if the room is on the smaller size, install some mirrors to create the illusion of space.  Be sure to keep your room decluttered and neatly organised  A trolley is a great vertical storage option if you need to optimise space, otherwise a beautiful bench or tall boy with draws will keep all your supplies neatly stored and within arms reach.

If offering waxing services is more your thing then the good news is that setting up your room or space isn’t complicated.  Start by finding yourself a good sturdy treatment bed that is going to be comfortable for both you and your client.  Portable massage beds are an inexpensive option that are also easy to store away if you need your space back at the end of the service.  You’ll need a work surface to set up your wax pot, waxing products and disposable items - this could be a waxing trolley on wheels or fixed bench, but make sure it’s within easy reach from the treatment bed so that you are not dribbling wax everywhere as you move around the room.  And don’t forget the power points!

Of course, you don’t need to go all out when setting up for your spray tan business … in fact offering spray tans is one of the easiest ways to start your own beauty business.  Your spray tan kit will come with a portable spray tan booth, so you can set up almost anywhere or go mobile and visit your clients at home!  We’re obsessed with that pink van though!

Offering skin treatments from home is a little more involved but not difficult when you know what to do.  In terms of set up you will need to follow some health and hygiene regulations, but the good news is that your local council will have all the information you’ll need to be sure you are setting up correctly.  In terms of the room itself, you’ll need enough space for equipment such as a trolley and a treatment stool as well as a treatment bed (a 2.5 x 2.5 meter space would be the bare minimum).  Plus you’ll want to make sure there is no carpet on the floor.  Although it may sound all a little clinical, there are plenty of ways you can create a relaxing ‘spa’ style feel with some beautiful clean white linen and soft lighting from fairy lights or candles.  For more info on setting up a home business in Queensland visit: https://www.business.qld.gov.au/starting-business/types-legal-structures/start-up-options/home-business/setting-up or check with your local council for all other states.
